Is this a lecture or a concert or a workshop?

"Change of Heart: The Art of Activism--A talk with song" will be a talk with a cappella songs integrated throughout--a story telling of Holly's work as a social change artist over the last 35 years.

"Lecture"--a talk on the requested topic

"Workshops"--a working session with a small group focused on skill sharing with regards to writing, songwriting, presenting in public etc.

"Concert" —an evening of music and storytelling. Sometimes a cappella, sometimes with a pianist, occasionally with back-up singers and/or other instrumentation. Often Holly wont know in advance which format she will present. (FYI, John Bucchino, long time pianist for Holly Near, is on sabbatical from traveling with Holly as he is working on a musical called "A Catered Affair".)

If you want to get concert information , please sign up on the mailing list and/or check back monthly for additonal events and updates. It would be very helpful if you can assist the producers of these events by spreading the word in your community. Promoting events has become increasingly difficult.  Bringing someone to a concert who has never been to a social change event is also a great way to help build community.  We forget sometimes how lovely it is to be invited.

If you see that Holly's tour schedule brings her to your region and you would like to inquire about presenting an event in your town, contact TamMartin@aol.com

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP

My work has always depended on the support of social change movements and community rather than big record companies and corporations. It has been a wonderful way to live and to work and I thank those of you who have been part of that support. Oftentimes you ask what you can do to help.

Email your friends and alert them to my site, the concerts, and to the new cds. Especially pass the word to people who might not know there is such a thing as political music that speaks to people's lives. Music is a good way to open conversations with people new to political activism. Often times, change starts with a song.

Thanks, Holly
